Denver: The Advent experience begins today. It may be “cyber Monday and from some of the evangelical websites that are promoting greater good, it has been a season where hope is high and hate is on the rise. From hacking to a season of hope there has been praying for people to come out of comas to the invasion into a hotel web site designed to give out great family content. This week Advent begins and adventure that took years to complete. Where the Old Testament ended and the New Covenant begins there is not so much a void. World History played out from Alexander the Great to The Maccabees the rise and fall of empires, the rise and fall of God’s people and the factions that remained. The law firm of Pharisee and Sadducee showed up, adding laws, keeping the “least of these” in their place and dulling the hope that was finally approaching the world. Yet a remnant of people remembered the last words before the curtain fell on the Old Testament.
“Remember the Law of Moses, My servant,
Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,
With the statutes and judgments.
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet
Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
6 And he will turn
The hearts of the fathers to the children,
And the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
Father to child
The analogy of father to child and child to father. “Let every heart prepare Him room…” Is there room in the Inn? Is there room in our hearts? Who is stopping us to open up and let this Christ child penetrate our culture. There are so many things that distract us but as we light the first candle we kindle the candle of hope. Don’t let the lawyers, the culture or the shopping snuff it out. What is 3000 years between testaments? Don’t let the teachers of religion or law steal your joy and our deliverance from evil. Keep hoping and keep believing the prophet’s words. Malachi means “His Messenger.”
Message of the ages and for Denverites
This is a message for the ages. imagine, America has been around for over 200 years, and we can’t remember what the founding fathers had in mind! Imagine 3000 years, keeping the “hope,” searching for “peace,” Looking for “love” and counting on “Joy.” “The hope and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.” At Ancient Paths house Church network in Denver the study of God’s Word, building relationships and outreach through evangelism, special needs ministry (Friendship Fellowship), media and culture; prayer ministry and community building are meant to be purposeful in remembering what God has done, the promise of what is to come, and bringing others to an understanding and reason for hope.
Last week we started with gratitude and the sacrifice of praise that Honor God this season in our homes and through hospitality. Then as we prepare for the birth and rebirth of Christ in our hearts and minds,
“Can we tale a look at our inventory and participate in innovative ways to communicate the message; the mission and the music in the community?”
